Title: Horseback Riding Tradition Kept Alive by Four Generations on Ertuol Grassland
Text:
On the Ertuol grassland in the Ulanhu town of Ertuol County in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, horseback riding is not just a sport but a cultural heritage. Here, four generations have passed down the art of horseback riding, seamlessly combining traditional Mongolian culture with modern competition.
Seven-year-old Anuojiede, the inheritor of this generation, has already mastered the art of riding at a young age. Her father, Deligere, and grandfather, Hao Da, are both renowned horsemen in the area. Deligere, who was encouraged by his father and grandfather to learn horseback riding from a young age, recalls starting to ride on the grassland at the age of five, despite his love for play. He received full support from his family in his horseback riding endeavors.
Deligere’s father, Sikinbaiyar, 56 years old this year, still maintains an excellent competitive state. He has won nearly a hundred medals in various horse competitions and has integrated his love for horseback riding into his life. Deligere, moved by his love for horses, gave up the opportunity to work in Hohhot and returned home. He not only raises horses but also invested 400,000 yuan to purchase a cross-breed thoroughbred horse, participating in various competitions and achieving commendable results.
Deligere expressed that horseback riding needs to be passed down, and he is now training his daughter Anuojiede in a hands-on manner, hoping she will one day excel in the horse racing world.
The horseback riding tradition on the Ertuol grassland is not only a source of family pride but also a means of preserving and promoting Mongolian culture. This combination of tradition and modernity makes horseback riding a bridge between the past and the future, showcasing the unique charm of Mongolian culture.
