The spokesperson pointed out that the islands in the South China Sea are part of China’s inherent territory, a fact based on history and international law. China’s activities in the South China Sea are aimed at safeguarding its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, as well as ensuring the freedom and safety of navigation at sea. The spokesperson emphasized that China has always been committed to resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation and promoting regional countries’ joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.
