Nanjing, China (May 7, 2025) – Nanjing is making significant strides in its ambition to become a regional shipping and logistics center, marked by the inaugural direct shipment of Chinese-made vehicles to Mexico. The Chinese-flagged international roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel Anji 24 departed from Nanjing Port’s Jiangsheng Automotive Terminal today, carrying 508 domestically produced automobiles destined for the Mexican market.
This milestone eliminates the need for Nanjing-exported vehicles to transit through other ports, streamlining the international logistics channel and solidifying Nanjing’s position as a key player in regional trade.
This inaugural voyage represents a major step forward in Nanjing’s development as a regional shipping hub, said a port authority spokesperson. By establishing direct international routes, we are reducing transportation times and costs for exporters, making Nanjing an even more attractive gateway for international trade.
The successful launch of this route underscores Nanjing’s commitment to enhancing its port infrastructure and expanding its international shipping capabilities. The city has been actively investing in modernizing its port facilities, improving customs clearance procedures, and attracting leading logistics companies to establish operations in the region.
The Anji 24 voyage is expected to have a ripple effect, encouraging other manufacturers and exporters to utilize Nanjing Port for their international shipments. This increased traffic will further boost the local economy and contribute to the growth of Nanjing’s logistics sector.
Looking ahead, Nanjing plans to further expand its international shipping network, connecting the city to key markets around the globe. The city is also exploring opportunities to develop new logistics services, such as warehousing, distribution, and supply chain management, to provide a comprehensive suite of solutions for its customers.
With its strategic location, modern infrastructure, and proactive government support, Nanjing is well-positioned to become a leading regional shipping and logistics center, driving economic growth and facilitating international trade.
