Shenzhen, China – In a move signaling its commitment to innovation and future growth, Tencent, the Chinese tech giant, has announced its largest-ever employment initiative, aiming to onboard 28,000 new graduates over the next three years. The program, unveiled on April 17th, will focus heavily on converting internships into full-time positions, with a significant emphasis on recruiting and developing tech talent.

The company plans to welcome 10,000 campus recruits in 2025 alone, with a remarkable 60% of these positions earmarked for individuals with technical expertise. This surge in tech-focused hiring reflects Tencent’s strategic investment in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud Computing, Game Engines, and Digital Content – all crucial components in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Tencent’s open campus recruitment positions this year cover five major categories: technology, product, design, marketing, and functions, including more than 70 positions such as large models, R&D, algorithms, marketing, planning, and operations.

This initiative underscores Tencent’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancement, said a company spokesperson. By prioritizing technical talent, we are positioning ourselves to drive innovation and meet the demands of a rapidly changing market.

This focus on technology aligns with Tencent’s existing workforce composition. As of early March, the company boasted over 55,000 employees, with more than 40,000 classified as technology professionals – a staggering 73% of the total workforce. Furthermore, over 27,000 employees are directly involved in technical research and development, representing nearly half of the company’s entire staff.

Campus recruitment is one of Tencent’s most important sources of talent. Tencent has always attached great importance to the attention and investment in campus students, and the number of recruits is in a leading position among Internet companies. Under the era proposition of technological innovation-driven development, Tencent also strengthens the forward-looking reserve of scientific and technological talents, grows together with young talents, and promotes technological innovation in the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence, said Xi Dan, Senior Vice President and Chief Talent Officer of Tencent.

The available positions span a wide geographic range, offering opportunities across various locations.
