海南 Tourism Set to Fully Recover Before National Day

China News Service, September 20

The tourism industry in Hainan is set to make a full recovery before the upcoming National Day holiday, according to an official from the Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports.

In a press conference held by the Hainan Provincial Emergency Command Center for Typhoon Moghan, Deputy Director Wang Zhongyun said that the tourism and cultural sectors are gradually recovering from the impact of the super typhoon, which hit the island earlier this month. He added that the industry will be fully operational before the National Day, which falls on October 1.

Gradual Recovery Post Typhoon

Typhoon Moghan made landfall in early September, causing significant damage to the northern part of Hainan Island. However, the eastern, southern, central, and western regions, including popular tourist destinations such as Sanya, Lingshui, Wanning, and Wuzhishan, were less affected, and the tourism market in these areas remains orderly.

Wang Zhongyun noted that the tourism industry in the northern part of the province is gradually recovering. By the Mid-Autumn Festival, which took place earlier this month, over 90% of the cultural and tourism sectors had resumed operations, meeting the expected targets.

Robust Recovery Numbers

According to information provided at the press conference, by September 19, the overall resumption rate of the tourism and cultural industry in Hainan had reached 93.75%. During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Hainan offered a rich variety of holiday products, receiving a total of 1.3921 million tourists, with a total expenditure of 2.021 billion yuan.

Wang Zhongyun described Hainan in autumn as a place of coconut breeze and gentle sunshine, perfect for coastal leisure, island-wide drives, theme park adventures, and rainforest health resorts. He encouraged tourists to explore various activities during the National Day holiday, including self-driving tours along the island’s perimeter, coastal leisure, tropical rainforest exploration, and medical health tourism.

Upcoming Events and Activities

To celebrate the National Day, Hainan Province plans to host 71 events, including 27 cultural performances and 20 sports events. These activities are designed to attract visitors and showcase the island’s diverse offerings.

Resilience and Optimism

The tourism sector’s quick recovery from the typhoon’s impact highlights the resilience of Hainan’s tourism industry. Despite the initial setback caused by the typhoon, the industry has shown remarkable adaptability and optimism, ensuring that visitors can enjoy the island’s attractions without significant disruption.

Conclusion

With the full recovery of the tourism industry in Hainan before the National Day holiday, the province is set to welcome a surge of tourists eager to enjoy its scenic beauty, cultural richness, and diverse activities. The swift recovery is a testament to the industry’s resilience and the province’s commitment to providing a high-quality tourism experience.
