Armenian B2B SaaS startup EasyDMARC, specializing in email security and authentication, has announced a $20 million Series A funding round led by New York-based Radian Capital. The investment comes on the heels of Google and Yahoo’s recent decision to make the Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) standard mandatory for bulk email senders.

DMARC is a technical standard aimed at protecting email senders and recipients from spam, spoofing, and phishing. Despite its importance, DMARC remained somewhat obscure until Google and Yahoo announced their enforcement measures in October 2023.

EasyDMARC, founded in 2018 by Gerasim Hovhannisyan and Avag Arakelyan, has capitalized on the increased demand for DMARC implementation. Since its inception, the company has grown to serve over 83,000 customers across 130 countries.

The startup’s success in raising funding is attributed to the enforcement of the DMARC standard. We were getting inbound interest from investors. More than 40 VCs started talking to us, and this March, we got a lot of term sheets, said Hovhannisyan. We were most aligned with Radian on work and culture, and passed their due diligence. We will be using their networks to help us grow in the U.S. and globally.

Despite competition from companies like Valimail, ProofPoint, and Minecast, EasyDMARC’s user-friendly approach has set it apart. As the name implies, our solution is easy. What matters is customers saying it’s easy; they get peace of mind. They don’t need expert knowledge to implement our solution, Hovhannisyan explained.

The funding round also underscores the growing momentum in the Armenian startup ecosystem, which has been attracting attention from global investors. With a population of around 3 million, Armenia is not a large market, but its tech innovation history and status as one of the five top scientific research centers in the former USSR have positioned it as a hub for emerging startups.

Looking ahead, EasyDMARC is poised to benefit from the upcoming implementation of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) for fintech companies. This will further solidify the company’s position as a leader in email security and authentication.
