Huangshan Airport Opens First Direct Flight to Muan, South Korea

Hefei, China – Huangshan Airport in Anhui Province welcomed its firstdirect flight to Muan, South Korea on September 13th, marking a significant milestone in the airport’s international expansion. An Airbus A320 carrying 172 passengers landed safely at 8:40 PM, signifying the commencement of the new route.

This marks the first time Huangshan Airport has established a direct connection to Muan, a city in South Jeolla Province known for its scenic coastline and historical sites. The inaugural flight was met with a grand welcome ceremony, including a water gate ceremony, the highest formof airport protocol.

The Huangshan-Muan route is a temporary direct charter flight operated by Capital Airlines. It will run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, until October 26th. The flight departs Huangshan at3:00 PM Beijing time and arrives in Muan at 7:20 PM local time. The return flight departs Muan at 7:20 PM local time.

In addition to the Muan route, Huangshan Airport will also launch charter flights from Seoul and Daegu to Huangshanstarting on September 14th. The Seoul flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, while the Daegu flights will run on the same days.

South Korea has long been a major source of international tourists for Huangshan, a renowned mountain range known for its breathtaking scenery and cultural heritage. The airport first established directflights to South Korea in 2005 with temporary charter flights operated by Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. In 2011, Huangshan Airport launched its first international route, connecting Huangshan to Seoul. Since then, the airport has introduced temporary charter flights to Busan, Cheongju, and Daegu.

However, all flights to South Korea were suspended in February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The resumption of these flights signifies a positive step towards restoring tourism and economic ties between China and South Korea.

The new routes are expected to boost tourism to Huangshan, attractingmore South Korean visitors eager to experience the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. The flights will also facilitate business and cultural exchanges between the two countries, further strengthening bilateral relations.

This development is a testament to the growing importance of Huangshan Airport as a regional hub for international travel. The airport’s strategic locationand the increasing demand for direct flights to South Korea have paved the way for this new route, which is expected to contribute significantly to the economic development of the region.
