The President of Senegal, Macky Sall, led a delegation to Shandong Province from September 6 to 8, to explore the advanced experiences in agricultural technology and machinery equipment of this key agricultural province. The visit aimed at fostering new opportunities for cooperation in the agricultural sector.
During the visit, President Sall visited the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, where he learned about advanced agricultural planting techniques and expressed his admiration for the efforts of the academy in agricultural science and technology innovation and achievement transformation. He also looked forward to achieving more results in agricultural science and technology cooperation in the future. It is reported that the academy has carried out peanut germplasm resource and technology exchanges with Senegal, and signed an agricultural science and technology cooperation memorandum of understanding with the Senegal National Agricultural Research Institute in 2022.
In addition, President Sall visited the 2024 Shandong Agricultural Machinery Equipment Quality Exhibition to understand the development of agricultural machinery and equipment in Shandong. He also visited Qingdao Port and Haier Group. He expressed his hope that more Chinese and Shandong enterprises would invest and settle in Senegal, and that they would continue to optimize policies to provide one-stop service for Chinese enterprises, promoting continuous new achievements in cooperation between the two sides.
Shandong Provincial Committee Secretary Lin Wu stated that looking ahead, Shandong is willing to work with Senegal to fully implement the consensus of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, further strengthen agricultural cooperation, consolidate the cooperative advantages in machinery, textiles, light industry, and other fields, vigorously expand cooperation in marine economy and new energy, continuously improve the level of economic and trade relations, and continuously deepen people-to-people exchanges to help promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level.
During the visit, President Sall also visited the Shandong Provincial Agricultural Technology Extension Station, where he learned about the application of modern agricultural technology in the field. He said that he was impressed by the advanced technology and management experience of China’s agriculture, and he believed that cooperation between China and Senegal in agriculture had a bright future.
The visit of President Sall to Shandong is of great significance.
