Fujian Signs 50 Major Projects with Planned Investment Exceeding 110 Billion Yuan

Xiamen, China – Fujian province hassigned 50 major projects with a planned investment exceeding 110.04 billion yuan (approximately $15.4 billion USD) during the24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held in Xiamen. The event, considered China’s most significant international investment-themed exhibition, witnessed a flurry of agreements aimed at boosting the province’s economic development.

The signing ceremony, held on September 8th, highlighted the diverse nature of the projects. Of the 50 agreements, 21were foreign-invested projects with a planned investment of 39 billion yuan, while 11 were backed by central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) with a planned investment of 205.6 billion yuan.Private enterprises accounted for 15 projects with a planned investment of 339 billion yuan.

The projects cover a wide range of industries, with a focus on manufacturing and services. 35 projects are in the manufacturing sector, with a planned investment of 788.6 billion yuan, while15 projects are in the service sector, with a planned investment of 311.8 billion yuan. Key industries include electronics and information technology, advanced equipment manufacturing, petrochemicals, modern textile and apparel, new energy, new materials, and modern services.

One of the most notable aspects of the signingceremony was the significant participation of investors from Hong Kong and Taiwan. A total of 13 projects were signed with Hong Kong investors, while two projects were signed with Taiwanese investors.

Xiamen, the host city of CIFIT, has been actively leveraging the event to attract investment and secure major projects. Thecity signed 13 projects with a total investment of 353 billion yuan, marking a continuous increase in investment for the third consecutive year. Xiamen also topped the list in terms of the number of projects and total investment among all cities in Fujian.

Among the notable projects signed in Xiamen,Anta Group, a leading Chinese sportswear company, plans to invest 40 billion yuan to build the Anta Sports Park in the Xiamen Two-shore Financial Center Huli District. The project will create a new industry development model integrating operation, office, innovation and research, and sports and cultural experiences.

The signing of these major projects will not only expand effective investment but also provide strong support for Fujian’s accelerated construction of a modern industrial system and the promotion of new productivity development, said a relevant official from the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce. These projects will inject new momentum and vitality into the construction ofa new Fujian.

The CIFIT, held annually in Xiamen, serves as a platform for attracting foreign investment and promoting economic cooperation. The event has played a crucial role in Fujian’s economic growth, attracting significant investment and fostering the development of key industries. The signing of these 50major projects is expected to further accelerate Fujian’s economic development and contribute to the province’s overall prosperity.
