Title: Long Delays for BC Ferries Passengers at Swartz Bay Due to Mechanical Issues
Mechanical problems have led to the cancellation of several sailings between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen, causing long waits for passengers planning to travel on Monday. BC Ferries has announced that the 9, 10, and 11 a.m. sailings from Swartz Bay are fully booked, while the noon and 4 p.m. sailings are canceled because of issues with the Queen of New Westminster. The 1 and 2 p.m. sailings are also full.
As of 9 a.m., there was 32% available space on the 3 p.m. ferry. However, those traveling to Vancouver Island are in better luck. Although the 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. sailings from Tsawwassen were canceled due to mechanical issues, other sailings have reported available space. For example, the 9:05 a.m. and 11:25 a.m. sailings from Departure Bay to Horseshoe Bay were full, but the 1:40 p.m. sailing had space available.
Passengers are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative modes of transportation or alternative travel times to avoid long waits. BC Ferries is currently working to resolve the mechanical issues to ensure smooth sailing operations for future trips.
