Tianjin, August 19th (Reporter Wang Junyan) – According to information released by the official microblog of the Tianjin Meteorological Bureau, the Tianjin Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, in conjunction with the Tianjin Meteorological Bureau, has jointly issued a yellow warning for geological disaster meteorological risk. The warning states that from 20:00 on August 18th to 20:00 on August 19th, heavy rainfall is expected in the northern mountainous areas of Tianjin, which could lead to a higher meteorological risk of landslides, collapses, and debris flows.
As the warning was issued, scattered showers or thunderstorms have begun to appear in Tianjin, with some areas receiving rainfall of up to 2.5 millimeters. It is expected that from this evening to the night, areas such as Jizhou, Baodi, and Wucheng will experience scattered showers or thunderstorms, with a general downpour across the city and localized heavy to torrential rains in some areas. The Tianjin Meteorological Observatory has issued a yellow warning signal for lightning, reminding citizens to take precautions.
Over the next two days, Tianjin will continue to see scattered showers or thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy to torrential rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, short-term strong winds, and other severe convective weather phenomena. This rainfall is characterized by its long duration, large cumulative rainfall, intermittent nature, and scattered heavy downpours, which will have a certain impact on traffic, especially during morning and evening peak hours.
Officials from relevant departments in Tianjin and the general public are urged to closely monitor the latest meteorological information, prepare for travel, and ensure safety. Additionally, relevant departments should strengthen the patrol and monitoring of geological disaster risk points, take timely preventive measures, and ensure the safety of the people’s lives and property.
