UNITED NATIONS, March 15 (Xinhua) — China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dai Bing on Tuesday reaffirmed China’s support for the UN’s role in fighting Islamophobia at a high-level meeting marking the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
Dai stressed that Islamophobia is a form of discrimination and prejudice against a specific religion and ethnic group that seriously infringes upon human rights and fundamental freedoms. He highlighted that the Chinese government has been committed to safeguarding the freedom of religious belief for all its citizens and opposes all forms of discrimination and prejudice.
Dai also said that China is ready to work with the UN and the international community to strengthen cooperation in combating Islamophobia and maintaining world peace and stability.
