Seoul, South Korea – Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, announced today that it will launch its second data center in South Korea this month. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The move underscores Alibaba Cloud’s commitment to expanding its presence in the South Korean market and catering to the growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
Addressing the AI Boom
According to Alibaba Cloud, the primary driver behind the new data center is the surging demand for AI infrastructure, fueled by the increasing adoption of generative AI models. The second data center, like the first, is located in Seoul, ensuring low latency and high availability for South Korean customers.

Alibaba Cloud first entered the South Korean market in 2016 and launched its first data center in March 2022. With the launch of the second data center, the company aims to provide a comprehensive suite of cloud-native, big data, and database products optimized for AI applications.
