Seoul, June 19 (Yonhap News Agency) – The 25th Korea-China Living Sports Exchange event is set to commence in Seoul from June 20th to 24th, announced the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) today. This year’s event marks a significant milestone in fostering goodwill between the two nations through grassroots sports engagement.
The primary objective of this exchange program is to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Korea and China by promoting sustained interaction in various sports disciplines and regions at the amateur level. This year introduces swimming as a new addition to the exchange program, with the Chinese delegation participating in the 11th Seoul Special City Federation President Cup Swimming Competition. This expansion broadens the scope of living sports exchange, encouraging wider participation and engagement.
Beyond the sporting competitions, the Chinese delegation will also have the opportunity to experience Seoul’s rich cultural heritage. The itinerary includes visits to iconic landmarks such as Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Lotte World Tower, offering a glimpse into the city’s historical and modern attractions.
Following this event in Seoul, a Korean living sports delegation is scheduled to visit Hubei Province, China, in October, continuing the reciprocal exchange and further solidifying the sporting ties between the two countries.
This exchange program underscores the importance of sports as a tool for diplomacy and cultural understanding. By fostering interaction at the grassroots level, the Korea-China Living Sports Exchange aims to build lasting relationships and promote mutual respect between the two nations. The inclusion of new sports like swimming and the planned visit to Hubei Province demonstrate a commitment to expanding and deepening the scope of this vital exchange.
