Beijing, June 14 (Xinhua) – Sanofi’s quadrivalent influenza vaccine has been approved for sale in China for the 2025-2026 flu season, according to a statement released by the company on June 13. The announcement marks the return of the vaccine to the Chinese market after it was previously suspended due to efficacy concerns.
The vaccine received batch release approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), paving the way for its availability to the public in time for the upcoming flu season.
Sanofi has not yet released specific details regarding the efficacy concerns that led to the previous suspension, nor has it elaborated on the measures taken to address these issues. However, the NMPA’s approval suggests that the vaccine now meets the required standards for safety and effectiveness.
