Beijing, June 3rd, 2025 (Xinhua) – Chinese consumers will face higher fuel costs as domestic gasoline and diesel prices are set to increase for the fourth time this year. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced the price hike on Monday, citing recent fluctuations in international crude oil markets.
The NDRC stated that, in accordance with the current pricing mechanism for refined oil products, gasoline prices will increase by 65 yuan per tonne and diesel prices by 60 yuan per tonne, effective from midnight on June 3rd, 2025.
This translates to an average increase of 0.05 yuan per liter for both 92-octane and 95-octane gasoline, as well as for 0# diesel across the country.
This latest adjustment reflects the continued volatility in the global oil market and its direct impact on the Chinese economy and consumer spending. While the NDRC maintains that the pricing mechanism is designed to buffer domestic markets from extreme price swings, the cumulative effect of these increases will undoubtedly be felt by businesses and individuals alike. The implications of these rising fuel costs on inflation and transportation costs remain to be seen.
