Gwacheon, South Korea, June 3rd – The counting of ballots has commenced in South Korea’s 21st presidential election following the closure of polling stations at 8:00 PM local time tonight.
According to the election statistics system of the National Election Commission (NEC), as of 8:35 PM, vote counting was already underway in some polling stations in North Gyeongsang Province. The NEC stated that the majority of the 254 polling stations nationwide began opening ballots between 8:30 PM and 8:40 PM.
The NEC anticipates that the initial results of the election will begin to emerge around midnight tonight. The vote counting process is expected to continue into the morning of June 4th.
