Shenzhen, China – June 2, 2024 – Honor’s Magic6 series smartphones are receiving a significant performance upgrade with the rollout of the MagicOS 9.0.0.175 update. The update, which began pushing to devices this week, introduces a suite of new features, most notably a Phantom Frame Stabilization function designed to enhance the gaming experience.

The update, first reported by IT Home, addresses not only gaming performance but also brings improvements to image processing. Users can now leverage new tools for removing reflections and wrinkles from photos, repairing facial expressions, and editing watermarks. However, the Phantom Frame Stabilization feature is garnering the most attention, promising smoother gameplay in demanding titles.

According to user feedback, the Phantom Frame Stabilization feature currently supports popular games such as Genshin Impact, Honor of Kings (Arena of Valor), Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, and Wuthering Waves. The function aims to improve frame rate stability and reduce stuttering during gameplay.

Honor acknowledges that enabling Phantom Frame Stabilization will lead to a slight increase in power consumption and device temperature. This trade-off is typical of performance-enhancing features that push hardware to its limits.

The introduction of Phantom Frame Stabilization in the Magic6 series builds upon Honor’s previous innovations in gaming performance. Last December, the Honor GT phone debuted the company’s proprietary Phantom Engine, boasting zero jitter in demanding games, zero touch disconnection in scenarios with screen protectors, and optimized power consumption. The recently released Honor GT Pro further refined this technology with the Phantom Engine, supporting AI Power Consumption Adaptive 2.0, AI Touch Enhancement 2.0, and AI Rendering Separation 2.0.

This latest update demonstrates Honor’s commitment to optimizing the gaming experience on its devices. By bringing Phantom Frame Stabilization to the Magic6 series, Honor aims to provide users with a smoother, more immersive gaming experience, even in graphically intensive titles. While the increased power consumption and potential temperature rise are factors to consider, the benefits of improved frame rate stability are likely to outweigh these drawbacks for many gamers.

The MagicOS 9.0.0.175 update is currently rolling out to Honor Magic6 series devices. Users can check for the update in their phone’s settings menu.
