Qingzhou, South Korea – June 1, 2024 – A delegation from South Korea’s North Chungcheong Province has successfully secured export contracts worth over $10 million during a recent visit to Shandong Province, China, according to a statement released today by the North Chungcheong Provincial Government. The trade mission, which took place from May 26th to 29th, focused on promoting exports and tourism opportunities in the region.
The delegation, led by Kim Doo-hwan, Director-General of the Economic and Trade Bureau of North Chungcheong Province, attended the 2024 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Development Conference in Jinan, Shandong Province, on May 27th. During the conference, discussions were held with the Shandong Provincial Government regarding collaborative initiatives spanning economics, trade, tourism, and culture. The North Chungcheong delegation also extended invitations to Chinese representatives to attend the upcoming Yeongdong World Traditional Music Expo and the Jecheon International Oriental Medicine Bio Industry Expo, highlighting the province’s cultural and industrial strengths.

From May 27th to 29th, the delegation, in collaboration with ten small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from North Chungcheong Province, conducted export negotiations with Chinese counterparts. These negotiations resulted in a total of 82 export agreements, amounting to $11.66 million.
This successful trade mission underscores the ongoing economic cooperation between South Korea and China, particularly between North Chungcheong Province and Shandong Province. The agreements are expected to boost the economies of both regions and further strengthen bilateral ties.
