Shanghai, April 29, 2024 – In celebration of its upcoming 120th anniversary, Fudan University has announced the launch of the Qingyun Scholars Program, aimed at providing financial assistance to students facing economic hardship. The initiative is supported by the establishment of the Fudan University Zhu Guinong Zhang Boqin – Qingyun Scholars Fund, spearheaded by Zhu Min, a distinguished alumnus of the Economics Department’s Class of 1977 and former Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), through the Fudan University Education Development Foundation.

The Qingyun Scholars Program seeks to alleviate the financial pressures faced by many students, allowing them to focus on their studies and personal development without the added burden of economic worries. The fund, named after Zhu Min’s parents, reflects his deep commitment to supporting the next generation of Fudan scholars.

Access to quality education should not be limited by financial circumstances, said a university spokesperson. The ‘Qingyun Scholars Program’ embodies Fudan University’s dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

The program is expected to provide scholarships, grants, and other forms of financial aid to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential, but who may lack the necessary financial resources to fully pursue their educational goals.

The launch of the Qingyun Scholars Program underscores Fudan University’s ongoing efforts to enhance student support and promote educational equity. By investing in the future of its students, Fudan University reaffirms its commitment to nurturing talent and contributing to the advancement of society.
