Nanyangju, South Korea – The city of Nanyangju in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, announced on April 25th that it will be advancing economic and cultural exchanges with Mianyang, a city in Sichuan Province, China. The announcement followed a meeting between Nanyangju city officials and a visiting delegation from Mianyang.
According to the Yonhap News Agency, the two cities convened a meeting to discuss avenues for collaboration in both the economic and cultural spheres.
The 14-member delegation from Mianyang visited Nanyangju at the invitation of the South Korean city. During the meeting, both parties agreed to establish a foundation for economic and industrial cooperation and to promote exchanges in traditional culture and the arts. Specific examples highlighted included the artistic merit of traditional Najeon lacquerware (mother-of-pearl inlay) and crafts made from straw and bamboo.
