Beijing, April 12, 2024 – China is intensifying its efforts to improve breast cancer treatment by focusing on precision medicine, intelligent technologies, and equitable access to care. This commitment was highlighted at the opening of the 2025 National Breast Cancer Conference in Beijing on April 11th. The conference, themed Scientific Leadership, Precision Innovation, Guideline Empowerment, and Sino-Foreign Exchange, signals a new phase in China’s fight against the disease.

Breast cancer remains a significant public health challenge globally, and China is determined to enhance its approach to diagnosis and treatment. The conference served as a platform to discuss the latest advancements and strategies for combating the disease.

A key highlight of the conference was the release of three significant guidelines: the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines 2025, the China Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines 2025, and the CSCO. These guidelines are expected to standardize and improve the quality of breast cancer care across the country.

The focus on precision underscores the importance of tailoring treatment plans to individual patients based on their unique genetic and molecular profiles. This approach aims to maximize treatment effectiveness while minimizing side effects.

The integration of intelligent technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, promises to revolutionize breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. AI can assist in analyzing medical images, predicting treatment outcomes, and personalizing treatment plans.

Achieving equitable access to care is a crucial goal, ensuring that all patients, regardless of their socioeconomic status or geographic location, have access to the best possible treatment. This involves strengthening healthcare infrastructure, training healthcare professionals, and implementing policies that promote equal access to care.

The 2025 National Breast Cancer Conference marks a significant step forward in China’s efforts to combat breast cancer. By embracing precision medicine, intelligent technologies, and equitable access to care, China aims to improve outcomes and enhance the quality of life for breast cancer patients across the country.
