Beijing, April 11, 2025 (China News Service) – Beijing was buffeted by strong winds this evening as a result of a powerful cold front. Some areas in Miyun and Pinggu districts experienced hailstorms, with hailstones reaching a maximum diameter of 2 centimeters.
The Beijing Meteorological Observatory issued a notice stating that the leading edge of the strong winds had reached the urban area of Beijing. Gusts of 7 to 8 on the Beaufort scale were recorded in Dongcheng, Haidian, Shijingshan, Fengtai, and Chaoyang districts. In some areas of Yanqing and Changping districts, gusts reached level 8.
Due to the severe weather, several scenic spots in Beijing have been temporarily closed to ensure the safety of visitors. The specific list of closed attractions has not yet been released, but residents and tourists are advised to check with individual locations before traveling.
The strong winds are expected to continue overnight, and residents are advised to take precautions, including securing outdoor objects and avoiding unnecessary travel. The Beijing Meteorological Observatory will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
