Seoul, April 9 (Yonhap) – Renowned South Korean host Jeon Hyun-moo and celebrated singer BoA have issued apologies following a recent livestream incident where their behavior and remarks, made while seemingly intoxicated, sparked controversy.
The incident occurred on April 5th during a joint livestream session. A viewer inquired whether Jeon Hyun-moo was in a relationship with comedian Park Na-rae. BoA responded by suggesting that a relationship was unlikely, stating that Park Na-rae was not good enough for Jeon Hyun-moo. This comment immediately drew criticism online.
On April 9th, Jeon Hyun-moo addressed the controversy on his social media, stating, I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable because of this incident. He further explained, Immediately after the livestream, I apologized to Park Na-rae, and she graciously accepted my apology. Speaking ill of someone when they are not present and conducting a livestream carelessly while intoxicated were completely wrong actions, and I will reflect on this.

According to sources within the music industry on April 8th, BoA also addressed the issue on April 7th via the fan community platform Weverse. During the livestream on the 5th, my careless words and immature behavior caused discomfort, and I apologize for this, she wrote. BoA further stated, I apologized to Park Na-rae personally, and I am deeply reflecting on my actions. I will be more careful in the future.
This incident highlights the increasing scrutiny faced by public figures in the age of social media and livestreaming. The ease with which celebrities can connect with fans directly also comes with the responsibility of maintaining professional conduct, even in seemingly casual settings. The swift apologies from both Jeon Hyun-moo and BoA suggest a recognition of this responsibility and a desire to mitigate the damage caused by their actions. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential pitfalls of unfiltered communication and the importance of mindful behavior in the public eye.
