Shanghai, China – The highly anticipated, domestically produced Audi A5L is slated to make its grand debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, which opens on April 23rd, according to official sources at FAW-Audi. The vehicle is expected to hit the Chinese market in mid-2025, with plans for FAW-Audi to subsequently import the full range of the new Audi A5 family.

The FAW-Audi A5L boasts a striking front fascia, characterized by a wide, flat, integrated air intake grille featuring a three-dimensional honeycomb structure. A newly designed illuminated four-ring Audi logo further enhances its visual appeal.

This A5L marks the first model from FAW-Audi built on Audi’s new PPC platform. It will be powered by the latest EA888 Evo5 engine, coupled with Audi’s cutting-edge E³ 1.2 electronic architecture. FAW-Audi is also collaborating with leading Chinese intelligent driving solution providers to enhance the vehicle’s autonomous driving capabilities.

The Audi A5 family will be jointly produced by Audi’s two major partners in China: FAW (First Automobile Works) and SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation), offering diverse body styles to cater to different consumer preferences. The SAIC Audi A5L has already appeared in the latest declaration catalog of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), showcasing a sleek Sportback design.

Furthermore, Audi is partnering with Huawei to integrate Audi’s signature handling characteristics into the ADS 2.0 algorithm. This collaboration aims to fine-tune the vehicle’s overall control and braking performance.
