Seoul, South Korea – A delegation from the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) is scheduled to visit the United States next week to meet with key political and economic figures, laying the groundwork for future economic and trade cooperation discussions between the two nations.
The KCCI announced on February 16th that Chairman Chey Tae-won will lead a 26-member delegation to Washington D.C. from February 19th to 20th. This marks the first official visit by a South Korean private sector organization to the U.S. since President Donald Trump began his second term. The delegation comprises CEOs from South Korea’s top 20 conglomerates, representing sectors including automotive, semiconductors, steel, shipbuilding, and energy.
During their visit, the KCCI delegation will meet with senior White House officials, members of Congress, and other influential figures to exchange views on critical issues such as tariffs and trade policies. They also plan to highlight strategic cooperation opportunities between South Korea and the U.S., and present South Korea’s investment and collaboration initiatives in the U.S.
A key event during the visit will be the Korea-US Business Night on February 19th, held at the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress. The event is expected to be attended by members of the U.S. Congress.
This visit underscores the importance of the economic relationship between South Korea and the United States, and highlights the efforts of the private sector to foster stronger ties and address key challenges in the current global trade environment. The discussions are expected to contribute significantly to the upcoming government-level negotiations on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
