AI Search Startup Perplexity Aims for $8 Billion Valuation with $500 Million FundingRound

San Francisco, October 21, 2024 -Perplexity, a rapidly growing AI search startup, is reportedly in talks to raise $500 million in a new funding round, aiming to more than double itsvaluation to $8 billion or even higher. The company’s ambitious move comes amidst a surge in investor enthusiasm for AI startups, fueled by OpenAI’srecent record-breaking $66 billion funding round.

Perplexity has already completed three significant funding rounds in just one year, a remarkable pace even in the fast-paced Silicon Valley. The company’s valuation skyrocketedfrom $520 million at the beginning of the year to $3 billion by summer.

OpenAI’s latest funding, which saw participation from prominent investors including Thrive Capital, Microsoft, Nvidia, SoftBank, Tiger Global, andAltimeter Capital, has further ignited the AI market.
