Tokyo, Japan – September 25, 2024 – BMWhas unveiled the M8 Competition The Final Edition, a limited-edition model commemorating the discontinuation of the M8 in the Japanese market. Only eight units will be produced,split between the M8 Competition Coupé (2 units), M8 Competition Cabriolet (2 units), and M8 Competition Gran Coupé (4 units).

TheFinal Edition boasts a unique set of features, including exclusive wheels, limited-edition badging, and carbon fiber exterior accents. The starting price for these special models is a hefty 27,188,888 Japanese yen, which translates to approximately 133.1 million Chinese yuan.

Visually, the M8 Competition Coupé, M8 Competition Cabriolet, and M8 Competition Gran Coupé The Final Edition retain their familiar design, offering a choicebetween Alpine White and Black Sapphire Metallic paint schemes. All three variants are equipped with 20-inch bronze-colored wheels (813M) and red brake calipers. Carbon fiber accents further enhance the sporty aesthetic, adorning the front bumper, front lip, exterior mirror covers, and rear spoiler.

Inside, thelimited-edition designation The Final Edition 1 of 8 is prominently displayed. Other interior highlights include a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system, heated seats and steering wheel, and rear privacy glass.

Under the hood, all three models are powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering a potent 460 kilowatts (620 horsepower) and 750 Newton-meters (553 pound-feet) of torque. Power is channeled through an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

The BMW M8, known for itsperformance and luxury, has been a popular choice among Japanese enthusiasts. The decision to discontinue the model in the Japanese market is likely due to a combination of factors, including shifting consumer preferences and the increasing popularity of electric vehicles.

While the M8 may be leaving the Japanese market, it remains available in other regions, includingChina. In China, the M8 is offered in both coupé and Gran Coupé body styles, with prices ranging from 1.988 million to 2.218 million yuan.
