Seoul, South Korea – After a hiatus of over two years, South Korean low-cost carrier Jin Air, a subsidiary of Korean Air, announced today that it will resume its Incheon-Qingdao route on May 30th. This resumption signals a positive step towards increased connectivity between South Korea and China, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

The Incheon-Qingdao route was suspended in March 2023 due to local time slot resource issues. The relaunch of this route underscores the improving dynamics in the aviation sector and the growing demand for travel between the two nations.

Starting May 30th, Jin Air will operate one daily round-trip flight on the Incheon-Qingdao route. Flights departing from Incheon International Airport are scheduled for 1:50 PM, with the exception of Thursdays, when the departure time will be 12:15 PM. Return flights from Qingdao are scheduled for 4:00 PM.

This restored connection is expected to facilitate increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Incheon, a major transportation hub in South Korea, and Qingdao, a significant port city and economic center in China’s Shandong Province.

The resumption of the Incheon-Qingdao route by Jin Air follows other recent developments in South Korea-China aviation, including increased flight frequencies by other airlines. Earlier this year, Asiana Airlines announced a 20% increase in its South Korea-China flights for the summer-autumn season, bringing the total to 164 flights per week.

These developments indicate a gradual recovery and strengthening of air travel between South Korea and China, potentially benefiting both economies and fostering closer ties between the two countries.

Conclusion:

The resumption of the Incheon-Qingdao route by Jin Air is a welcome development that reflects the growing demand for travel between South Korea and China. This restored connection will not only benefit travelers but also contribute to increased economic and cultural exchange between the two nations. As the aviation industry continues to recover, further expansion of routes and increased flight frequencies are anticipated, further solidifying the connectivity between South Korea and China.
