China was a developing market with enormous possibilities, Huang said. We saw the talent, the ambition, and the rapid pace of development. It was clear to us that China would become a critical part of the global tech landscape.
NVIDIA’s early focus in China was on its core business of selling GPUs for gaming and graphics. However, Huang quickly realized that the future of the company would be shaped by its ability to adapt to the unique demands of the Chinese market. Over time, NVIDIA shifted its focus from simply selling products to fostering deep partnerships with local companies and research institutions.
