Seoul, June 19th – The 25th Korea-China Living Sports Exchange event is set to commence in Seoul from June 20th to 24th, announced the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) today. This year’s event marks a significant milestone in promoting grassroots sports diplomacy between the two nations.

The primary objective of the exchange is to foster friendship and understanding between Korea and China through citizen-level sports engagement. By facilitating continuous interaction across various sports and regions, the initiative aims to solidify a foundation for sustained collaboration.

A notable addition to this year’s program is the inclusion of swimming. The Chinese delegation will participate in the 11th Seoul Special City Federation President Cup Swimming Competition, expanding the scope of the living sports exchange. This marks the first time swimming has been incorporated into the event, signaling a commitment to diversifying sporting opportunities.

Beyond the swimming competition, the Chinese delegation will engage in various other sporting events and experience Seoul’s cultural landmarks, including Gyeongbokgung Palace and the Lotte World Tower. These activities are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Korean culture and society.

Following the Seoul event, a Korean living sports delegation is scheduled to visit Hubei Province, China, in October, continuing the reciprocal exchange program.

This year’s exchange builds upon the success of the 2024 event held in North Chungcheong Province, further solidifying the partnership between the two countries in promoting healthy lifestyles and international cooperation through sports.

Conclusion:

The 25th Korea-China Living Sports Exchange represents a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties through grassroots sports diplomacy. By expanding the scope of activities and fostering continuous interaction, this initiative promises to contribute to a deeper understanding and lasting friendship between the people of Korea and China. The inclusion of swimming and the planned visit to Hubei Province highlight the commitment to sustained collaboration and mutual exchange.
