Seoul, South Korea – A recent poll released by Gallup Korea on June 13th reveals a significant level of optimism surrounding President Lee Jae-myung’s leadership. The survey indicates that a striking 70% of South Koreans hold a positive outlook on Lee’s ability to govern the nation effectively.
The survey, conducted between June 10th and 12th, polled 1,000 South Korean voters aged 18 and above regarding their expectations for Lee Jae-myung’s administration. The results showed that 70% of respondents expressed a favorable view, while 24% held a negative view, and 6% remained undecided.
This strong approval rating is further reflected in the shifting political landscape. The ruling Democratic Party of Korea enjoys a 46% approval rating, a notable 7 percentage point increase compared to pre-election figures. Conversely, the main opposition People Power Party has seen a significant decline, dropping 12 percentage points to 21%. This widening gap of 25 percentage points between the two major parties represents the largest disparity recorded by Gallup Korea in the past five years.
Smaller parties also garnered some support, with the Rebuilding Korea Party at 5%, the Korea Innovation Party at 4%, and the Progressive Party at 1%.
This latest poll carries a 95% confidence level with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points. The response rate for the survey was 14.9%.
The high approval rating for President Lee Jae-myung suggests a strong mandate for his policies and vision for South Korea. The significant shift in party support further underscores the evolving political dynamics within the nation. It remains to be seen how these trends will shape the future of South Korean politics and the impact of Lee’s administration on the country’s domestic and international affairs.
