Shenzhen, China – June 2, 2024 – Huawei’s Executive Director and Chairman of the Terminal BG, Yu Chengdong, emphasized the significant value of the Stelato S900, stating that it is driving the high-end transformation of 221 supply chain companies across more than a dozen provinces in China. His remarks came during a live broadcast on the evening of May 30th, highlighting the broader impact of the luxury electric vehicle beyond its market segment.
The Stelato might appear to be just a high-end car, but its value is far-reaching, Yu stated. It is propelling 221 supply chain companies across over a dozen Chinese provinces to embrace high-end development and establish high-end supply chains.
Yu explained that this shift towards high-end manufacturing significantly enhances competitiveness. The highest-end products demand new technologies, processes, materials, innovations, and capabilities. This core competency elevates the overall capabilities of China’s automotive industry.
Xiang Xingchu, Party Secretary, Chairman, and General Manager of JAC Group Holding Co., Ltd., echoed Yu’s sentiments. He noted that foreign capital has historically dominated the automotive component sector, particularly in intelligent control components. However, with Huawei’s involvement, the ultra-high-end luxury vehicles we are jointly developing are also boosting the independent domestic industrial chain, Xiang added.
The impact of this strategic shift is already being felt. According to official data released by Harmony Intelligent Mobility today, sales during the May Day holiday saw a significant surge, with confirmed orders exceeding 22,000 units, a 100% year-on-year increase. The company stated, China’s independent brands are entering a major upward cycle, and Harmony Intelligent Mobility will drive both volume and price increases across the intelligent vehicle industry chain.
Furthermore, multiple bloggers and users have reported that the Stelato S900, dubbed the Era Flagship, has garnered over 2,100 confirmed orders within 48 hours of its launch.
The Stelato S900’s success underscores the potential for Chinese automotive brands to compete in the high-end market. By fostering collaboration and innovation across the supply chain, Huawei and its partners are not only creating luxury vehicles but also strengthening the foundation of China’s automotive industry for long-term growth and global competitiveness.
