Incheon, South Korea – A man in his fifties is under investigation by the Incheon International Airport Police Corps for allegedly possessing a replica firearm at Incheon Airport. The incident, which occurred on July 14th, has raised concerns about security protocols and potential connections to political gatherings at the airport.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, the man, identified only as A, is suspected of violating the Act on the Safety Management of Guns, Swords, Explosives, etc. While he is under investigation, he has not been taken into custody.

The incident took place at approximately 1:00 PM at Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport. A was allegedly carrying a gas-powered replica gun. At the time, members of a far-right group were gathered at the airport to welcome an individual known for promoting claims of election fraud.

Authorities are currently investigating whether A is connected to the group or the individual they were welcoming. We will investigate whether A is related to the people at the scene, a police official stated.

The incident underscores the importance of vigilance and adherence to security regulations at major transportation hubs like Incheon International Airport. While replica firearms may not pose the same threat as real weapons, their presence can cause alarm and potentially be used to intimidate or incite violence.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities delve deeper into A’s motives and potential connections. The outcome of the investigation could have implications for security protocols at the airport and may lead to increased scrutiny of individuals and groups gathering for political purposes.
